‘Spurs Stung By Hornets’

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen and Jason McGovern, as the Last Word On Spurs returned. Tottenham finished their pre-season with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to recently-relegated Championship side Watford.

With just eight days until Jose Mourinho begins his first full campaign at Tottenham at home to Everton, goals from Andre Gray and Domingo Quina gave Watford a half-time lead, with a late Heung-min Son penalty not enough to avoid a first pre-season defeat.

All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur – Episodes 1-3 Review

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee McQueen, John from Lilywhite Rose and Chris Cowlin, as the Last Word On Spurs return with Amazon Prime’s eagerly-anticipated ‘Tottenham: All or Nothing’ documentary has finally been released, with the first three episodes out today.

The series documenting Spurs’ eventful 2019/20 season on and off the pitch was known to be coming out at some stage this summer, with numerous taster clips over recent months giving fans a glimpse of what is in store. Tottenham confirmed a start date of August 31 – a little under a fortnight before the 2020-21 Premier League season is due to get under way on September 12.

Tottenham: All or Nothing will give a behind-the-scenes look at a tumultuous campaign, which saw Mauricio Pochettino – who led the team to a Champions League Final last May – sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho in November. Mourinho had to deal with key injuries to the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son before the coronavirus pandemic that caused the three-month shutdown of English football in March.

Sitting 14th when Pochettino was relieved of his duties, Tottenham eventually finished sixth, leapfrogging Wolves on the final and qualifying for the Europa League courtesy of an upturn in results. Manchester City became the first Premier League club to take part in Amazon’s All or Nothing docuseries – produced by 72 Films in collaboration with NFL Films – in 2018. The Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys are among the franchises to have taken part in the flagship NFL version, while the show has also branched into rugby union with All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks, also released in 2018.

‘Doherty Signs’ | Bonus Podcast!

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee McQueen, Chris Cowlin and Dave from the Wolves View channel on Youtube as Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The full-back has signed a contract until 2024 and will wear the number two shirt.

Doherty, 28, initially moved to Wolves from League of Ireland side Bohemians in July, 2010. He has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the Molineux side in all competitions and was part of two promotions as the team climbed from League One to the Premier League, as well as qualifying for the Europa League in their first season back in the top flight. A consistent performer, Doherty has missed just seven league matches in the last four seasons. He has featured in 95 games in all competitions since Wolves returned to the Premier League in 2018, contributing 15 goals and 15 assists in that time.

Born in Dublin, Doherty has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 levels and won the first of nine senior caps in 2018. He will now join up with his national team ahead of their UEFA Nations League games away to Bulgaria and at home to Finland next week before returning to Hotspur Way to train with the rest of the squad ahead of our opening match of the season against Everton.

‘Bergwijn’s Solo Show’

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by Lee McQueen and Chris Cowlin on this edition of the Last Word On Spurs.

A last-gasp Steven Bergwijn stunner secured a second Tottenham pre-season win in as many days with a 1-0 victory over Championship side Birmingham.

With Birmingham happy to sit deep, it took Tottenham until the 89th minute to finally break the deadlock as the second half substitute Bergwijn undid all of Birmingham’s hard work with an emphatic strike.

‘Sonny’s Goal Glut’

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose as the Last Word On Spurs reviewed the 4-1 friendly win against Reading at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son Heung-min marked his fifth anniversary at Tottenham with a goal in a 4-1 friendly win over Reading. The South Korean signed for Spurs on this day in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen and continued to look in good shape ahead of the new campaign, with his side brushing aside their Championship opposition. Son was on the scoresheet in the first half along with Dele Alli and an own goal, with Erik Lamela adding a fourth after the break. George Puscas scored a late penalty for Reading.

‘Tottenham Hotspur – Behind The Finances’

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Lee MvQueen and special guest to this week’s Last Word On Spurs in Football Finance’s Kieran Maguire.

Levy is one of the most powerful men in English football, as well as one of the most private. He has run Tottenham with forensic control for almost 20 years now, transforming them from one of the mid-table pack into an example of how a modern self-sufficient football club should work.

But among Tottenham fans, Levy is not universally popular. The team has only won one League Cup during his tenure, although they did come close to greatness under Mauricio Pochettino, finishing as Premier League runners up in 2017 and reaching the Champions League final in 2019. But their greatest manager since Bill Nicholson was sacked last year and stickers saying “ENIC OUT: PROFIT OVER GLORY” are not an uncommon sight around the club’s newly-built stadium.

We discuss the finances behind Tottenham Hotspur and leave it up to the audience to decide what you feel about the club’s finances.

‘Michael Dawson – Special’

Host Ricky Sacks was joined by John from Lilywhite Rose and special guest to the Last Word On Spurs in Tottenham Hotspur hero Michael Dawson on this very special edition.

Michael Dawson. Nine years a Spur, over 300 appearances, captain, leader, fans’ favourite, Spurs through and through. We went back through Michael’s career at Tottenham Hotspur.

Michael was part of the group of players who led us into the Champions League back in 2010, ‘Daws’ wore the armband on that famous night in February, 2011, when we beat AC Milan – Ibrahimovic et al – at the San Siro, keeping a clean sheet in the process, one of his many highlights with us between 2005-2014.
