Host Ricky Sacks is joined by a returning bumper returning regular panel in Lee McQueen, Richard Cracknell, Jason McGovern and Patrick Tyrant as we review a much-changed Tottenham side showing plenty of promise but the club’s pre-season ultimately ended in defeat as Barcelona won 4-2 to lift the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Robert Lewandowski gave the hosts a very early lead in Spain, but Spurs responded impressively and turned it around by half-time as Oliver Skipp scored twice in just over ten minutes. The second of those looked like being the winner as the visitors remained in front heading into the final ten minutes, but three Barcelona goals ensured they won their traditional curtain-raiser for the 11th year in a row.
We also discuss the signings of Van de Ven, 22, from Wolfsburg for an initial 40m euros (£34m) which could rise to a reported 50m euros (£43m) with add-ons.Veliz, 19, has joined the London club from Rosario Central for a reported £13m fee subject to a work permit. Both players have signed six-year contracts at Tottenham. They are Tottenham’s fourth and fifth summer signings respectively following the arrivals of England midfielder James Maddison, Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and Israel winger Manor Solomon.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by co-host Lee McQueen and Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) Chair Martin Buhagiar and Vice-Chair Anthoulla Achilleos as we discuss the THST announcing it will stage a demonstration against the club’s ticket price rises ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s first official home game in charge against Manchester United on Saturday 19 August.
THST has accused Spurs of “exploiting fans’ loyalty” during a cost of living crisis. The protest will commence at 3.45pm – with kick-off at 5.30pm – and take place opposite the club’s ticket office. It threatens to overshadow a new era under Postecoglou, who joined from Celtic earlier in the summer.
As of next season, tickets for Category B and C matches will be raised by between £3 to £15 compared to 2022-23, while Category A fixtures, against Spurs’ “Big Six” rivals and as of next season Newcastle, are now priced at £10 to £17 more. The most expensive individual ticket for an adult supporter is £103.
According to THST, the increase in matchday tickets will earn the club approximately £2.5m in revenue, representing a 2.4 per cent increase from June 2022 and a 0.6 per cent increase of the club’s total income.
The THST hopes that the demonstration will encourage the club to fully reverse the ticket price increases, improve their communication with fans over proposed changes in the future and ensure that there will be no further rises made for the 2024-25 season.
A Supporters’ Trust is a formal, democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way their club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.
In a way, THST like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just themselves.
Join THST
The main reason to join THST is to make sure that you have a way of getting your opinion across to the Club, in a way that they have committed to listening to. We also provide advice to fans who contact us on a wide variety of ticketing and safety issues. This includes providing assistance with ticketing enquiries, facilitating and mediating complaints against the club, representing fans who have been unfairly treated and, where necessary, providing access to legal counsel. As a volunteer-led organisation, our capacity is sometimes stretched in this major part of our work, but our objective is always to ensure the interests of fans come first.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests in Entertainments’ Host & Compere Richard Cracknell along with British Actors Ricky J Norwood and Darren Hartman as we review Harry Kane scoring four goals as Tottenham Hotspur beat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 in their penultimate pre-season friendly before the start of the Premier League.
The match was new boss Postecoglou’s first game in charge in front of his own supporters at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Spurs’ two previous friendlies having taken place during a tour of Asia and it will have left the Australian keener than ever to retain the services of Kane, who produced a virtuoso performance in what Spurs fans will hope was not a farewell with a flourish.
The striker has featured in all three Spurs friendlies this summer and played more than 80 minutes on Sunday, coming off just after his fourth goal and prompting loud ‘we want you to stay’ chants from supporters. He opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a foul on James Maddison who – after Shakhtar levelled – set up Kane’s second with a pinpoint cross that the England skipper headed in from close range. The link-up between the international team-mates promises much, should Kane stay, but his hat-trick strike came from a more familiar source as he tucked away Dejan Kulusevski’s defence-splitting ball.
He tapped home his fourth after Dmytro Riznyk parried Manor Solomon’s shot. Kane’s replacement Dane Scarlett added a fifth with an emphatic strike in stoppage time of the charity match to raise funds for Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion. Tottenham open their Premier League campaign at Brentford on 13 August.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Chief Sports Reporter Martin Lipton as we cover everything to do with Tottenham Hotspur during this summer transfer window.
Tottenham are on the verge of a deal with Wolfsburg to sign defender Micky Van de Ven. The deal is close to being completed although an announcement may not happen just yet. The 22-year-old has spent two seasons at the Bundesliga side, amassing 41 appearances in all competitions. Clean sheets have come on 14 of those occasions, with the Dutchman possessing the ability to play at both left and centre-back. Should they seal a deal, Spurs will be set to beat fellow Premier League opposition to his signature. Liverpool were linked with Van de Ven earlier in the summer as they also look to strengthen their back line. However, it appears that Spurs are close to completing the signing, with personal terms already agreed. Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba has also emerged as a target for the north London side. Van de Ven could join in with the pre-season action before the new campaign as Spurs face Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona in their final friendly matches.
Harry Kane expects to stay at Tottenham if he is not sold before their Premier League opener at Brentford on Sunday August 13. It is understood Kane believes – out of respect for Tottenham and also the new manager Ange Postecoglou – it would be unfair for him to leave once the season has started. Other sources, however, have indicated that a potential move to Bayern Munich may still be on the agenda right up until the Transfer Deadline on September 1. Sky in Germany are reporting the total package Bayern are currently offering for the England captain has yet to increase but the club plan to improve on the existing figure of £81.7m (€95m), which would already represent the largest transfer in the club’s history.

Martin Lipton’
Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Antony Costa, Frank Major and former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega as we reflect on all the latest news surrounding the football club.
We discuss Spurs’ search for a central defender with Ange Postecoglou confirming that the club are working on signing a new centre-back. Ashley Phillips, who, if signed, would be separate from the two senior centre-back’s Tottenham Hotspur want to sign this window, was thought to be on the verge of joining, but a fee has yet to be agreed and Blackburn are reportedly upping their asking price. A breakthrough on Edmond Tapsoba or Micky Van de Ven remains elusive.
We also discuss the future of Harry Kane, who is reportedly close to an historic deal to join Bayern Munich should the executive summit between Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, technical director Marco Neppe and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy go well on Monday.
Bayern are confident an agreement can be reached even though the clubs are some way apart on their respective valuations of the 30-year-old England and Spurs record goal-scorer. Bayern are likely to bid around £75million, which they consider a huge fee for a player who will be free next summer. Kane is the outstanding candidate and wants to join the Bundesliga champions but they will need to get closer to Levy’s £90m valuation.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Lee McQueen, Richard Cracknell and Patrick Tyrant as Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot before Richarlison netted a second-half hat-trick as Tottenham hammered Lion City Sailors 5-1 in Singapore to lift the Tiger Cup and secure Ange Postecoglou’s first win as Totttenham Hotspur head coach.
Kane started and captained Spurs amid links over a summer transfer to Bayern Munich and equalised for his side after Shawal Anuar gave the Singapore Premier League club a shock lead in the 14th minute. Tottenham changed their entire XI at half-time and Richarlison made an instant impact scoring twice in the first seven minutes of the second half.
Giovani Lo Celso netted Spurs’ fourth before Richarlison capped a fine individual and team performance with a tidy finish.

Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Lee McQueen, Patrick Tyrant and Mitch Fretton as we react to Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Leicester in Bangkok being called off after torrential pre-match downpour left the pitch unplayable.

Finally we discuss the future of Harry Kane, Kane will not sign a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur this summer but extending his deal is still an option he is open to if he remains in N17 and the club is making progress under Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou has conceded that he is “not relaxed” about the unresolved question of Harry Kane’s future, and warned that #Tottenham cannot allow the uncertainty over Harry Kane to drag on much longer
